Yesterday I walked past my open iBook and heard the “ting” indicating new e-mail. Being the e-mail junkie that I am, I sprinted to the iBook and saw…
I’d been hit with a junk mail comment. My first!
Well, I knew how to take care of that. I deleted it and pushed away from the computer, only to hear another “ting.”
Two more spam comments! Persistent little buggers, they are.
I deleted those and got up to leave and “ting!” Another three showed up. By the time I finished deleting spam comments, I’d logged in eleven in about 6 minutes, all different IPs, too.
I went to Podz WordPress guides and found that he uses and recommends Bad-Behavior and Spam-Karma 2.
I already use Bad-Behavior, so Spam-Karma 2 is now on my To Do list. I also learned about a simple (but apparently effective) tactic from a guy named Jeff Barr. The Jeff Barr Solution consists of giving spammers a trick question before the comment can pass.
I’ll try both of them soon and report on ease of installation.
