Monday Morning Mojo: Halloween approaches

You know what makes a good and scary movie moment?

When the ordinary, everyday, and mundane person suddenly turns into someone or something scary.

An excellent example of this is a scene from Lord of the Rings where Bilbo Baggins, AKA the Ring-Finder, who is very sweet and grandfatherly as seen here…

Bilbo Baggins, pleasant Hobbit gentleman

… gets one whiff of that evil ring and unexpectedly turns into Bilbo Baggins, Demon Spawn Who’d Eat Frodo’s Brains If He Had the Chance, as seen here….

Bilbo Baggins, possessed by that nasty ring

And why am I discussing scary movie moments in the Monday Morning Mojo?

First, because I’m shooting blanks right now, and can’t think of a single thing to say. You know, it’s kind of hard to come up with something humorous Sunday afternoon after Sunday afternoon. The pressure is incredible!

And second, because Mojo does his own little imitation of Bilbo Baggins all the time. See here: a perfect example of Bulldoggus Stinkemuppus, reclining on the stairs, as sweet as can be, albeit very stinky…

… just seconds before he turns into Brain-Eating Demon Spawn himself…

Yeah, I know. It’s kind of a stretch. But you try to compose a clever little Monday Morning Mojo when your husband is after you to get to bed or else. Sometimes that man can really be annoying.

In fact, it’s times like these when I’d give anything to turn into a brain-eating spawn of demon just for a few minutes—you know, to scare the poop out of my husband—but not really eat his brains, or anything.

  1. Mojo as Demon Dog? The Hound of the Basketballs? Nah…
Scare the poop out of your husband?
Hmmm…Poop Out Of Husbands – POOH Society – close.
    Tell him your pregnant…with triplets.

  2. Mojo is many, many things. adorable, cute, sweet, funny, stinky. Scary? Not even a chance. Unless you are a drink bottle, of course. Or Senor Tortuga.

And scaring husbands with feaux children? Coming from a husband, TOTALLY NOT COOL!!! 🙂

Just tell him you’ve decided that you want 2 more bulldogs! Happy Monday!

  3. Bernita, you don’t know my Hubby. He would be delighted with triplets. I would be the one seen running screaming down the street.

And Jamie, that goes for you, too. My man would LOVE two more bulldogs. I’m the only one in this house saying, “we’ve got to save up for college!” (Bulldogs go through a lot of vet bills. Just ask Susan.)

Hi, Groovy! Heh! That explains so much! I never realized… my boys must be terrified of boxers, too!

  4. No thank you on the poop, cleaned enough of my three kids =)) They would look at you and say “well you have to clean it up, it was your fault”.

I love how MOJO is sitting on the step =)

  5. Mojo is too darn cute to be scary.

Scare the pooh from husbands….hmmm… could send him the lovely (and psycho) Two-Toes and Queen B. 😉

Or maybe Noodles, the possessed kitten of doom.

Love your sabado and mojo days so very much.

  6. A dog had a right to morph on ocassion. Us men tend to do it also. It’s you loving women that keep our feet planted. Okay, enough of these wierd thoughts. Give me a ring of invisibility and I would….

  7. “You want to see something really scary?” That line from the Twilight Zone movie never fails to make me go, “uhhh, no.”

There was a scene in “All the President’s Men” where Robert Redford was walking alone on a dark street, and the tension is building to an unbearable point, and all of a sudden he… he… TURNS AROUND!!! That’s all, but I shriek EVERY dang time.

Mojo… scary… ehhhh, no, sorry, just don’t see it. I do love the way he’s parked his carcass on the step. Elder Hound used to do that, only she’s tall enough to use the couch.

  8. You don’t have to TRY to be funny Bonnie …you just are. I mentioned in an earlier comment on another post, I don’t even have to know what you’re talking about to laugh.

P.S. something about mojo’s reclining position just makes me giggle in spite of all his efforts to be ferocious

  9. I know exactly what you mean about it’s hard coming up with something different all the time! My blog needs the title changed to “The Custody Battle Chronicles”!

  10. Now, now, Laurel Wreath… that’s not what I gathered from you from your recent Halloween Procrastination Game Submission!

Mojo always sits on the stairs like that. Sometimes he sits like this, only with both of his feet tucked under him:

Thanks, Kristen, and I’ll be looking for Two-Toes to show up any day, now, okay? A non-bulldog dog… yes… that’s exactly what will scare the poop out of Hubby. “Honey! Can we keep him?” Heh!

Heh, Steve! I think we women do plenty of morphing around PMS. In fact, I’ve been expecting Hubby to chime in here with a statement like, “I’ve get scared poopless at least once a month, Babe!”

Ms. Karen, would you believe I haven’t seen All the President’s Men? My imagination is quite active, though. I’d probably be shriek louder than you ever do. (We just saw Stir of Echoes with Kevin Bacon. Very good scary movie! Not too scary, but just enough for me.)

Thank you, Dink. You know, I never think Mojo looks ferocious, but you should see how many people grab up their dogs in fear when they see him coming, like he’ll rip out Fifi’s throat, or something.

Squirrel, with Rabid Squirrel in the picture, you get to do Halloween EVERY DAY.

You mean you can’t do that? C’mon, Bonnie, reach into your inner woman, down deep where the bitch lives, and give it a go! It can be really, really fun! 😉

  12. I know, I know, April, but Hubby has seen that scary woman before. I’m talking about something really supernatural, like Bilbo up there! Instant makeup change and back again!

  13. Oh, gosh. You really like Halloween don’t you? those pictures of both Bilbo and the dog are scary!!!
