SECRETS
of the SPLIT!

They’re acting like a happy couple
in public, but in private friends say
IT’S GETTING NASTY!

Didi pointed at the magazine on the kitchen table. “What’s this?”

“Sissy bought it,” I said, emptying a can of beans into a bowl, “because she wanted see what’s going on with Tom and Katie.”

“Disgusting!” she cried. “He is SO disgusting. I can’t stand to look at him any more! He repels me! And what has he done lately? He hasn’t been in a movie for YEARS!”

“He was in War of the Worlds. That was this year, wasn’t it?”

“Was it? I can’t remember. All I know is I can’t stand him! If he dropped off the face of the earth I think we’d all be better off. If I never saw him again, I’d be ECSTATIC. I am so sick and tired of hearing his name, seeing his face—who in the hell cares about him anyway! ENOUGH ALREADY!”

I put the beans in the microwave.

“Let me see that magazine,” she said. “I’ve got to see what he’s up to.”

  1. I hope you didn’t cook the beans too long. Exploding beans in the micro always make such a mess!!

War of the Worlds was very good. I’ve watched it about a dozen times, but all the he said, she said, makes me a little nuts!

  2. I was feeling Didi right up intil that last comment. *sigh* she lost me on the about-face. Someone should take that man out back and beat him like a red-headed step child.

(no offense meant to redheads, either… I was one for a while.)

  3. maybe I am weird — (Yeah, there’s a stretch) But I have disliked the man ever since The Outsiders in 1984 – NEVER liked him, NEVER saw what the buzz was about … hmm – people never listened to me when I said he was weird…! 🙂

  4. Dennie! Me too!!! I could never get what he was all about. I still havent seen that samari movie yet, and I think Ewan MacGregor would have been better in War of the Worlds. Did anyone see The Island? The plot kinda gets weak, but a fun Sci-fi movie none the less. Any recommendations out there?

  5. Hey, all!

Savannah, thanks for dropping by, you former red-head, you.

Bonnie C: beans are explosive in or out of the microwave!

Michelle, Bernita and Dennie… I’ve never been fond of the guy, either. But I think he’s coined a new phrase: “jumped the couch.” It’s like an updated version of “jumped the shark.”

  6. Laurie, I’m sorry your comment got caught in my Moderation Queue… it’s a little late but I rescued it. It tagged you as having a “fake javascript payload,” just so you know why it singled you out.

I liked The Island, too. I don’t know if you’ve seen it or not, but I think The Abyss is a great Sci Fi movie with a really nice romance in it.
