WordPress To Do List

I kept flipping back and forth between this theme (Dixiebelle) and my mangled blend of Neuro’s 3-column theme Devenir en Gris and Robin Hastings LetterHead.

(As far as I can figure, Devenir en Gris is French for “we Gauls like our three-column blogs dark and grey.” Not that I’ve run it through the Google translation box or anything, so don’t quote me.)

I was proud of my CSS hack-cut-and-paste job on the the two unsuspecting themes, until I saw Jennifer’s Dixiebelle. God gave Neuro, Robin and Jennifer the talent to design beautiful sites, and the rest of us have to wait for them to release themes.

But before I turn this “more” directory into my main site I’ve stuff to do, namely:

  1. Figure out the “static page as home page” concept. Discussed at the WordPress forums here.
  2. …or figure out the “single category template as home page” concept.
  3. Customize my error page.
  4. Replace tulip photo
  5. Fine-tune the color theme to match the new photo
  6. Change icon colors (dang that obtuse Photoshop Elements program, anyway)
  7. Fix the sidebar fonts
  8. Figure out pings and trackbacks
  9. Arrange the links the way I want them
  10. Spiff up sidebar
  11. Meet a writing deadline

Since WordPress has replaced all the other activities I used to do to procrastinate, perhaps I should put that writing deadline to do at the top of the list.

Naw.

  1. Devenir en gris means “We fade to grey” translated in French by an English speaking guy with some French skills.

It comes from an old 80’s song

  2. Neuro, as an English-speaking gal with no French skills, “Fade to Grey” sounds good to me.

That the title comes from an 80s song makes it even better.

And the fact you are a William Gibson fan, well, that just puts you over the top in my book.
