Super Sabado: Snowmen and other diversions

Even those BloggingHeads guys got into the snowman concept:

Blogging Heads guys as snowmen

Today’s Super Sabado will be short, because Christmas is almost here and I’m short on time. But I think I’ll focus on Michael Whaite’s Snow Gallery, which is addictive enough that it ought to be illegal. So flick off the virtual snow flakes, grab a margarita and some chips and check out some wintry creativity.

Slide that salsa bowl down this way, will you, please?

This is my Sissy and her Appaloosa, Buddy. Blood is thicker than blogging, guys, so I’m going to put my Sissy first!

I originally got the snowman concept from Kait, but I think Kitty might have linked to it first. This is Kitty‘s Texan snowman.

And this is the Wanton Pat Kirby, who is just as creative an artist as she is a writer.

Bwa ha! I’m messing with you, Pat!

I’m still waiting on everybody else’s snowmen! I know Bonnie and A.E. worked on one. Everybody, show me your snowmen and I’ll link to you! If you don’t have a blog, mail me a screen shot and I’ll post it!

People got incredibly creative with their snowmen. I did some searches and found a tumbling snowman (scroll down a bit), a juggling snowman, a snowman family (as near as I can figure out), a Jack Skellington kind of snowman, and a “Storytime with Grandpa” snowman.

I also found some extremely acrobatic porn star snowmen, which I won’t be displaying here. Find them on your own time! (Pat Kirby is a lightweight in comparison, I tell you!)

Now for creativity completely unrelated to snowmen:

James “MacManX” Huff tipped me off to the most incredible composer, Sarah Wallin, who just finished her latest compositional project, Three Images of Christ’s Final Hours. Lovely, lovely music! I’m listening to her “Vortex Warped” right now! You’ll find samples of her work right here.

Take a few more minutes and see see “A Magical Fall” from Pine Lake Films, especially if you are stressed from holiday prep. It’s film art that quiets the soul. (Via Podz.)

I don’t know anything about art, if I had Rasmus Poulsen‘s paintings on my wall I’d do nothing but look at them all day.

I found him through Binary Bonsai; he’s a co-worker of Michael H. and did the painting of the Death Star that Michael used for one of his headers. I asked him if he exhibited his paintings or if he was a book illustrator, and he said he he’d never given any thought about selling his work.

He should. Just take a look at some of his stuff: he is amazing!

And the JibJab guys are at it again with “2-0-5:”

“From the sick and twisted minds at JibJab comes a year end roundup starring a beleaguered President and the laundry list of problems he’s faced in 2005…”

That’s all for now… this weekend I’ll be wrapping presents. What will you be doing?

  1. Thanks for including me in your article, Bonnie! I’m so happy to hear how much you enjoy my music. (Hopefully, I’ll include some other clips of other pieces soon… ) 🙂

And thanks for the link to Poulsen’s artwork; it really is beautiful! I especially like his landscapes.

  2. Isn’t his stuff great? My kids said that if he illustrated a video game and you did the music, that it would be a best-seller.
